GEMS World Academy is proud to announce the arrival of two special guests, NASA astronauts Captain Barry Wilmore and Dr. Robert Satchler!
This is the first time NASA astronauts have visited the Middle East and, in support of our planetarium and commitment to promoting the space program led by our planetarium director, Mr. Andy Gregory from the National Space Centre, UK, GEMS World Academy has been selected by the Astronaut Appearances Office to host this prestigious event!
Captain Wilmore and Dr. Satchler recently returned from their mission to the International Space Station (ISS) and they will deliver educational presentations to students at several GEMS schools over four days from 21 February to 24 February, 2010 with GWA students enjoying this exciting event on Monday 22 February, 2010.
On the evening of Monday 22 February at 7.00pm, we are pleased to invite GWA parents to a free, ticketed presentation in our auditorium. The team will narrate a video of their time aboard the ISS on mission STS 129 and this will be followed by a Q&A session where you are given this once in a life time opportunity to ‘Ask an Astronaut’ your questions and discover the fascinating facts about being in space!
To be part of ‘Ask an Astronaut’, please email our Marketing Coordinator, Lynette Blackie lynette.blackie@gwadubai.ae with your full name and your guests’ names along with your email address and telephone number.
We will then email you an e-ticket as confirmation of your booking, on a first come, first served basis. Please print this e-ticket and bring it with you to GEMS World Academy on Monday 22 February at 7.00pm when refreshments will be available. The presentation will begin at 7.30pm in the auditorium.
