Dean joined GWA in 2015 after teaching in Dubai for over 20 years. With a wealth of experience and knowledge in all areas of the classroom and PE curriculum, alongside sport coaching and ASA’s, Dean is passionate about students being lifelong learners and ensuring that learning is both inclusive and fun. He strongly believes that the IB curriculum gives students the tools to embrace this belief.
Dean started his teaching career in the UK, and quickly progressed to become a Key Stage 2 coordinator as a classroom teacher, he then moved into Physical Education and coordinated PE departments in Dubai English Speaking School and then Rashid School for Boys. He has witnessed school sport mature in Dubai and has been part of moving competitive sport forward over the last 15 years, bringing DASSA and DAPSA competitive teams to GWA from 2016. After his role as Director of Sport and PE for GWA he wants to support students, parents and staff of the school to ensure learning is fully supported and progress can be made by all.
Dean completed his BA(ed) in Physical Education at Reading University in the UK. Dean is a qualified corporate coach and has completed his full leadership qualifications through GEMS over the past five years.
Dean’s passions lie equally with travel, sport and family, with Dubai offering amazing opportunities alongside traveling to find adventure such as Kilimanjaro and Kina Balu, and competing in Football, Rugby, Triathlons and more recently, skiing with his family.
