Deputy Head of School / Principal Secondary School,
Giles Pruett joined GEMS World Academy – Dubai as Deputy Head of School in February 2016, bringing a wealth of experience in teaching and learning, school operations, pastoral care and strategic school leadership. He started his career in the UK private sector, serving for a decade as a Housemaster and Director of Rugby at a leading independent school before transferring to GEMS Jumeirah College as Vice Principal responsible for the development of student support, professional learning and quality assurance of teaching and learning.
Before joining GEMS, Giles completed his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Management at Bath University, gaining a distinction level. His main research area focused on the concept of adding value within education and how student support structures can impact on academic and personal development. Giles is also a qualified corporate coach with specific interest in building impactful professional learning communities by empowering others. He has served on a number of accreditation visits and recently completed his Council of International Schools (CIS) Lead Evaluator qualification.
Giles has a passion for sport and has gained representative honors in the UK in both Rugby and Tennis. He trained and played as a professional tennis player after graduating from school and was then drawn back into the world of formal education, moving on to gain his Bachelor of Education from Bedford. He has a passion for exploration and travel with over 60 global countries visited to date, however, this has been temporarily curtailed whist he and his wife Joanna raise their young family, Isla (7) and Maggie (4) and Poppy (1).
