A successful Model UN 2020 with official Ambassador Ban Ki-moon

The event was attended by over 500 delegates, chairs, and directors from 31 different schools. We were honored to have HE Ban Ki-moon preside over our event as the keynote speaker of our opening ceremony, as well as Sir Anthony Seldon, our keynote speaker on the second day.

Delegates discussed topics under the theme of “Challenges of Intervention in a Complex World”, honing their skills of debate and diplomacy. A special thank you to the students and staff responsible for our conference, which took months of planning.

His Excellency visited our schools and talked about his experience inaugurating the first Model United Nations at GEMS World Academy - Dubai and his hopes for the students as they grow into the compassionate global leaders of tomorrow.

Our Korean students had the opportunity for a Q&A session with His Excellency, while our #GEMSEducation MUN Secretariat students had the unprecedented chance to sit with him, discuss various global issues and gain valuable insights from his experience as the former Secretary General of the United Nations.
