Timings of the Academy Day and Attendance

It is the Academy's philosophy that attendance at the Academy is of primary importance and therefore students are encouraged to be present regularly throughout the year to fully participate in the programme.

All students (primary and secondary) will be able to enter the Academy through their house doors from 7.45am - 8.05am. Cars will be able to drop off inside the front gates from 7.40am.

We also post reminder signs throughout the Academy to announce events such as concerts, exhibitions or parent coffee mornings.

Each week GEMS World Academy - Dubai has an Early Thursday Dismissal at 1:15 pm for all grades Pre-K - 12 as the afternoon will be used for Academy-wide professional development.

Attendance and Absences

Excellent attendance and punctuality have a direct impact on student progress and are key skills that children will require throughout their lives. Please read the Academy's  Attendance Guide for our expectations regarding behaviour and protocols in the case of student absence.

If a child is absent due to sickness or any other reason, please phone the Divisional Office to report their absence first thing in the morning. There are also times when an absence is unavoidable and in such cases, parents are asked to contact the Academy in advance whenever possible.
