Team Spotlight - Katrina Spartalis

Director of Wellbeing and Guidance

Katrina Spartalis is currently Team Leader of the K-12 Counselling Department as well as Counsellor for students in Grades 9 to 12 at GEMS World Academy – Dubai. She is a passionate advocate for the emotional health and wellbeing of young people. 

Having joined GEMS World Academy - Dubai in August 2015, Katrina began her career at the Academy as an MYP/DP Theatre Teacher and Grade Leader before taking up her current roles. She has completed a Graduate Diploma in both Psychology and Counselling and is currently completing a Master of Counselling degree. Prior to working at GEMS World Academy – Dubai, Katrina was a Grade 6 - 12 teacher and Head of Department at SCEGGS Darlinghurst in Sydney, Australia. In her spare time, Katrina enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, running and travelling.

Katrina will be presenting at the International School Counsellor Collaborative, a virtual conference to be held in October. Her presentation focuses on the mental health of adolescents and how educators can contribute to the wellbeing of the students they encounter.
