Team Spotlight - Sarah Dixon
After graduating with a Bachelors in Mathematics and Computer Sciences, I started teaching A Level in independent colleges in London, while qualifying to become a teacher. Following this, I worked for six years in a hospital school, three of which I took on the headship of the school. As I wanted to extend my skills, I decided to move to a Pupil Refusal Unit to give students a last opportunity to gain some qualifications before joining a working life. Thereafter, I was employed as a Mathematics consultant in Abu Dhabi to participate in the education reforms taking place. Upon leaving Abu Dhabi, I went on to teach in Latifa School for a number of years. However, I felt that I needed to explore a different approach to preparing students for university which is why I decided to move into the IB curriculum and joined GEMS World Academy - Dubai. I first started as a MYP Maths Teacher and started teaching the Diploma Programme the year after. I have also dedicated myself to becoming a Duke of Edinburgh Leader and a Sports Coach. Through my time as a Teacher, I have been given the opportunity to be part of writing a book to share my expertise as a Teacher in a classroom with very ill children. I have also been a continued Maths Examiner and recently started writing some exam resources for Kognity.
