Swimming

We have our own unique skill-based swimming curriculum for Primary students. Our Secondary lessons follow a swimming unit as part of their IB course.

Primary and Secondary students represent their Academy House and participate in house competitions throughout the academic year, including swimming and aquathlon.

The Academy continues to grow its competitive swimming squads now made up of over 100 swimmers. The squads are among the strongest academic teams in Dubai having secured success in various leagues and competitions both in and around the region. The Elementary squad has competed in Division 1 of the Dubai Swimming League and was named champion of the GEMS Global Swim Cup. The Secondary squad competed in the EAC and NESAC league and were the runners up in the GEMS Global Swim Cup in 2017.

The swimming squads train under the guidance of our coaches in our 50m six-lane pool. There is also a 15m training pool used for younger students as part of their curriculum swimming lessons.

We have recently added provision for synchronized swimming and water polo and will build to have teams representing GWA in both primary and secondary DASSA competitions.
